'Star Circle Teen Quest' Most Watched Program in 2nd QTR 2004

ABS-CBN’s talent search show, Star Circle Teen Quest Grand Questor’s Night garnered the highest number of viewers in the 2nd quarter with more than 3.9 million spectators. It is closely followed by the drama serials, Marina at second place; Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas at 3rd; Basta’t Kasama Kita & It Might Be You in the 4th & 5th places, respectively. ABS-CBN Snatches 2nd QTR Top Channel Share Spot from GMA

The battle for dominance has become more intense as ABS-CBN regained the lead with a mere one rating point in audience share ahead of GMA 7 this 2nd quarter. Among all channels, only GMA & the aggregate Cable channels’ shares registered a decrease (1%) in over all shares while ABS-CBN and ABC improved their shares by 1% apiece from last quarter. All other channels’ share of the market remained unchanged. GMA continues its control over the Noonprime timeslot despite losing about 3% in the late night period over the last period. Its introduction of new chinovelas, however, improved its stake in the Afternoon slot by roughly 1%. ABS-CBN 2 on the other hand remains the channel of choice during primetime. It also gained 5% share in the late night slot snatching the lead away from GMA 7.

Marina Tops 1st Quarter 2004 Ratings

The top program for the first quarter of 2004 is the popular fantasy telenovela Marina. It is followed closely by three more ABS-CBN telenovelas. There are only three GMA programs in the list, and only one of them (Endless Love II Winter Sonata) is a telenovela (or more specifically, a chinovela). This lends credence to the assertion that ABS-CBN’s main weapons in its programming arsenal are its telenovelas.
